Este sábado 8, festividad de la Inmaculada Concepción de María, la ciudad celebra las fiestas patronales en su honor.
La fecha fue instituida en 1854, durante el papado de Pío IX quien, tras realizar una consulta con el episcopado mundial, confirmó la celebración especial para ese día.
En su rica historia, Bell Ville tiene varias páginas marianas y esta que reproducimos a continuación, fue preparada por el Prof. César Cabanillas, presidente del Centro Municipal de Estudios Históricos, hay una relación directa de ese sumo pontífice con nuestra ciudad.
En el año 1824 arribó a Fraile Muerto, de paso hacia Chile donde iba a cumplir una misión pacificadora encomendada por el Papado, la delegación pontificia presidida por el arzobispo Juan Muzi, de la cual participaba el canónigo Juan María Mastai Ferretti (quien años después sería ungido papa con el nombre de Pío IX).
Pero, como el camino que les restaba recorrer era tan largo y lleno de peligros como el que habían transitado, decidieron hacer noche en Fraile Muerto antes de proseguir el viaje; circunstancia que brindó la oportunidad al Obispo Mastai Ferretti, en atención al fervor religioso que pudo captar entre los pobladores de la zona, de formularles una promesa según la cual, en caso de regresar sano y salvo a Europa de esa misión, enviaría como donación y obsequio a la vez, una Imagen de la Purísima Concepción. Promesa que cumplió enviando desde Roma, tres años más tarde, una nueva imagen votiva de la Inmaculada.
La referida imagen se encuentra en el templo de la parroquia Inmaculada Concepción de María de nuestra ciudad.
En el año 2005, el Centro Municipal de Estudios Históricos a instancias del Arzobispado de Córdoba, realizó la datación de esta imagen que comprobó la veracidad de su antigüedad y origen. El peritaje fue realizado por el Lic. Alejandro Moyano Aliaga, experto en la temática y registrado ante escribano público.
